Notice of Candidate Filing Deadline
Notice is hereby given that the deadline for filing to have a candidate’s name printed on the ballot for the Westhope Public School District is April 8th, 2024 by 4 P.M. The following offices are up for election:
Katie Ogaard (3-year term)
Shane Bryans (3-year term)
All positions are “At Large”
A candidate for a school district office must prepare and sign a school board application, candidate filing statement stating the candidate’s name and the position for which the individual is a candidate, and a SFN 10172 Statement of Interests form. All of these documents must be filed with the school district business manager for Westhope Public School by the above deadline date and time. All forms are available from either the school district business manager for the Westhope Public School district or online at www.westhope.k12.nd.us.
Attention WPS parents, the Sioux first round district basketball game at the Minot Auditorium will take place at 3:00 PM. If students plan to attend the game, a parent must notify the school prior, allowing for an excused absence only applicable in the afternoon. Thank you, and GO SIOUX!
Last month, WPS hosted a Lego Family Engagement night with hot chocolate. Thanks to the Senior Citizens, this event was made possible with all of the Lego kits provided. After building their sets, the kids were able to take their legos home with them! This has become a favorite event for many. The kids were already asking when they could have another Lego building night.

1. Please thelp us reinforce our kiddos wearing winter jackets, hats, gloves, boots, snowpants, etc when riding the bus, and proper cold weather gear (even blankets) for travel out of town for our students in activities and field trips during this cold snap.
2. Parents of Seniors, you are cordially invited to the FAFSA application night for college financial aid Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm in the commons with a free supper starting at 6 pm.

The girls' basketball games from Friday have been rescheduled to Monday, January 22nd. Start times will remain the same of 5:45pm and 7:15pm. Our junior high boys' basketball games scheduled for that day in Westhope will now start at 3:30pm and 4:30pm.

The Westhope FCCLA is holding a Christmas wreath auction and canned food drive to benefit the Bottineau food pantry and area nonprofits. Create your best wreath and bring it to the school by 3 PM on December 14th. Wreaths will be voted on by nonperishable food items on December 14th in the commons area during the girls' basketball game. 1 item equals 1 vote. The wreath with the most canned food items will be declared the winner and win a prize. Wreaths will then be auctioned off at Shawna's community meal on December 17th. Wreath creators will designate which area nonprofit they want their wreath auctioned for. The Scholastic Book Fair will be starting at the Westhope School on Friday, December 1st! Once again it will be held in the school commons. Students will have time available to them to purchase throughout the 1st-8th.

This note is a gentle reminder that Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 22nd is a Staff Professional Development Early Out day. Students will be released at 1:00 pm and buses will run at 1:05 pm. The early out after school program will run until 3:15 pm. The normal after school program from 3:15 pm to 5 pm is cancelled for tomorrow.

The Westhope High School One Act Play Troupe will be hosting a public performance this Tuesday, November 14, at 7:00 pm at Shauna's Place back room. We would like to cordially invite the community to an evening out for a show and enjoy the amazing talents of our students. A Special Thanks and Shout Out to Shauna and Jody Gibbons for allowing us to use their stage and equipment, There will be a free-will donation box in lieu of tickets. All proceeds will go to the One Act Play program.
